Horace Greeley High School9

Chappaqua, NY | Westchester County

This high school shows favoritism. If they like you great, if not... This will affect Seven Bridges Middle starting in 2015 too.

Everyone is entitle of their own opinion, but to say bad things about Horace Greeley...you most have some issues.....This is one if not the best high school any body can dream of...from the smartest kid to the special ed, and a handicap students they are all treated the same!

I moved to Chappaqua for it's academic reputation. this is my child's first yr in Greeley and i am not at all impressed with the administration or the teachers. thank goodness my child is a good student because her teachers are not teaching her anything but giving extensive work for her to learn on her own. the parent involvement in this community is above and beyond. there's always somewhere a parent can be involved. Very wealthy community which often leads to adults and children thinking they are "entitled" to do whatever they want! if your child is a great student or needs lots of help and at the lower lever, i think the school works. if your child is a middle of the road student, i feel they get over looked.

As we are the 44 or 45 best high school in the country, we're everything you'd expect that school to be, but everyones normal and its fun

With no disrespect i do not understand all the negative comments. Greeley is an extremely accepting place where i have learned so much. I am not naturally a motivated kid to do better but with they help of teachers and great friends i am a very good student. The people there are all wonderful and i have discovered some of my greatest passions there that i know i will carry with me throughout my life. I look forward to you sending your kids there, i cant wait to meet that and show them how happy greeley has made me, and can make them.

Horace Greeley is both all encompassing and extremely competitive. For those that can exist and flourish in a community/school with extremely high expectations, this is the school for you. For those students that have difficulty in what can be a highly stressful environment, Greeley is probably not for you.

HGHS is a wonderful school-for both 'bright ' children as well as children dx'd w/ learning disabilities. I found the academic support remarkable, as well as the athletics.

I think this school is horrible unless you are a very bright student...there is absolutely no concern for the athletics and if your kid has any issues like medical conditions save yourself some grief and go to a private school

Private school education plus all the bells and whistles at a public school price. Glad we moved here. Both my son and daughter have found it to be challenging and rewarding!

If you are not a brain or a jock or a child of wealth parents than forget about getting any attention from the faculty or administration.

Academic Programs are rigorous, but unstructured. The atmosphere is more like a college than that of a high school. Science is particularly strong in this school as a newly added series of chemistry classrooms and a full billion dollar extension has added to their capacity to accept new students and offer more classes and more diverse classes. There is also a fairly well renowned special education program for students with a variety of learning needs and disabilities. Unfortunatley, due to this reputation, there has been a dramatic and uncontrolled influx of special education students being mainstreamed into classrooms. The result for a system not designed to handle this many has been to dull down regular ed classrooms to accomodate the problem. Parents are as involved as they want to be and there are plenty of opportunities to either be involved or to stand back and watch your kid grow

Great school. Serious community, academically oriented, very well off economically.
